چکیده

In social interactions, it is common for one party to possess more or better knowledge about a specific transaction than others. In this situation, parties who are more knowledgeable might perform opportunistic behavior to others, which is against others’ interest thus leading to relationship deterioration. In this study, we propose a formal model of opportunism based on situation calculus. Specifically, knowledge asymmetry and intention are modeled by adapting the standard possible-world model semantics, and value opposition is specified through defining a value evaluation function on situation based on the perspective of agents. We illustrate how to use our formal model through a simple example. By this model, we show that the judgment of opportunism is subjective since it depends on from which perspective agents evaluate the situation over their value, and it is not the intention, but the knowledge, of opportunistic agents to cause harm to others. Further study on its emergence and constraint mechanism can be carried out based on the formal model.

Design and formal verification of DZMBE+

In this paper, a new broadcast encryption scheme is presented based on threshold secret sharing and secure multiparty computation. This scheme is maintained to be dynamic in that a broadcaster can broadcast a message to any of the dynamic groups of users in the system and it is also fair in the sense that no cheater is able to gain an unfair advantage over other users. Another important feature...

Towards a Theory of Diagnosis, Testing and Repair

In this paper, we provide a situation calculus framework for diagnostic problem-solving in the context of a theory of action and change. Using this framework, we present results towards a characterization of diagnosis, testing and repair for behaviorally static systems which require world-altering actions to achieve tests and repairs. Diagnosis is deened more broadly in terms of what happened i...

A Nonlinear Creep-damage Constitutive Model of Mudstone Based on the Fractional Calculus Theory

During the flood development in an oil field, the creep characteristic of mudstone is one of the important factors causing casing damage. In this study, based on the theory of fractional order differential and taking into account the creep damage evolution rules, a fractional nonlinear creep-damage model is proposed to reflect the instantaneous deformation in loading processes and the accelerat...

Bridging the Gap between XPDL and Situation Calculus: A Hybrid Approach for Business Process Verification

Business Process Verification (BPV) is increasingly important in emerging BPM Systems. Although many approaches related to BPV exist, the gap between formal models defined in previous research and informal models used in the industry prevents these approaches from large-scale industrial applications. This paper proposes a hybrid approach to bridge the gap between XPDL and Situation Calculus. XP...

From the Specification of Multiagent Systems by Statecharts to their Formal Analysis by Model Checking

A formalism for the specification of multiagent systems should be expressive and illustrative enough to model not only the behavior of one single agent, but also the collaboration among several agents and the influences caused by external events from the environment. For this, state machines [25] seem to provide an adequate means. Furthermore, it should be easily possible to obtain an implement...
